Toyota Small Business Tax Incentives

Take advantage of these tax deductions for your small business when you purchase a New Toyota vehicle by December 31st!
Growing your business in this economy can be challenging, but using tax strategies can help you obtain your goals. If you are looking to invest in your infrastructure you may be eligible for the section 179 deduction. This section allows businesses like yourself to take write offs on equipment purchases like SUV's and trucks.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, Congress passed the Tax Extenders Bill which extends several 2013 tax benefits through the 2014 tax season, including raising the limit of the Section 179 tax deduction allowing small business owners to depreciate the full cost of their vehicle purchase the first year (rather than depreciating over a number of years). Prior to this bill, the maximum 2014 deduction was $25,000, but with the passage of this bill into law the limit increases to $500,000 for the 2014 tax year. If you are looking to take advantage of this extension time is running out so consult your local Toyota dealer to get the returns your business deserves.
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the Section 179 deduction?
A. Section 179 of the IRS tax code was designed as an incentive for business owners to invest in their businesses and the economy by purchasing equipment. It allows taxpayers to elect to deduct the full purchase cost of certain types of property (up to $25,000) from their federal taxes for the year the property was purchased.

Q. Which property qualifies under Section 179?

A. Most business equipment qualifies for the Section 179 deduction. This includes tangible goods like vehicles, machinery, computers, software, and office furniture. The IRS website has a full list of equipment that qualifies for the Section 179 Tax Deduction. To qualify more than 50% of the property's use must be in the service of a trade or business.

Q. How much can you deduct?
A. The amount you can deduct is generally equal to the purchase price of qualifying property up to $25,000. There are some limitations, including a $25,000 limit on the amount a small business owner can elect to deduct for the purchase of certain sports utility vehicles. There is also a limitation for businesses that purchase more than $200,000 in qualified equipment. The IRS website has a more detailed explanation of deduction limits.

Q.Will the 2014 Section 179 dollar limitations change?

A. Lawmakers are considering an increase to the Section 179 dollar limitation, potentially retroactive to January 1, 2014. Keep an eye on our channels for possible updates.

Trucks: The Perfect Vehicle for Women

Alright ladies, let's talk trucks!

Have you ever wanted to get some extra top soil for your garden, but had to settle for those obnoxious bags of dirt because you didn't have a truck to get a load of soil with? What about that darling china hutch you spotted at the antiques store but had to pass up because you had no way to get it home? Well girls, trucks aren't just for the boys anymore! A recent Consumer Report established that almost 51% of recent truck sales are to women. The notion that only men drive trucks is a thing of the past. Trucks are more affordable, economical and family friendly than ever! Women are no longer resigned to Mini Vans in an effort to provide their family with a safe, comfortable and efficient means of travel. Toyota's new line of trucks rival any vehicle on the road for the versatility you want, and the safety and features you and your family need.

Common sense would lead us to the conclusion that when a collision takes place, the vehicle with the greater mass has a substantially lower risk of injury to its occupants. Because of this, the 2014 Toyota Tundras are some of the safest vehicles on the road! These new models have lower anchors and tethering seat-belts for children, child protecting rear locks, as well as front and rear parking assist sensors available on certain models. What's more, not only is it an extremely safe ride, it is also incredibly comfortable. The 2014 Tundras have a ton of cargo room; the Crew Max Edition boasts over five feet in shoulder and hip room in the front seat alone, and a back seat with over three and a half feet of leg room.

Come check out the incredible inventory of Toyota trucks in Spokane, and I'm sure you'll agree that our trucks are an awesome new option in function, affordability and family safety and comfort!
I would love to show you how great these trucks are!

Spokane Winter Driving Tips

The weather outside always eventually gets frightful here in Spokane. This can create treacherous driving conditions, even for the experienced snow driver. So for those of you who have to brave the winter wonderland, the LHM Downtown Toyota team put together some helpful tips for driving in winter conditions.

First of all, it's important that you keep a few items in your vehicle in case you need them:
  • Ice scraper
  • Tire chains
  • Small shovel or ice pick
  • Water supply
  • A flashlight
  • Gloves, coats and blankets
  • Signal devices, such as a flare
One thing that will make a tremendous impact on your ability to grip the road in slippery conditions is your tires. Snow tires should be applied to your vehicle to help you get the maximum amount of traction. It's also important to keep your tires properly inflated. Remember, your tires are the only part of the vehicle that touches the road!

Here are a few driving tips that will also help you stay out of trouble in icy and snowy conditions:
  • Slow down! This might seem obvious, but your ability to stop and stay in control depends upon your speed.
  • Brake gently and leave plenty of room. If your wheels lock up, or you feel your vehicle sliding when attempting to stop, pump your brakes--don't stand on them.
  • Steer in the direction you want your front end to go. If your rear wheels slide left, gently turn the wheel left. If your rear wheels slide right, gently turn to the right to gain control.
  • AWD or 4X4 vehicles perform much better in the snow that other vehicles.
  • Don't panic! If you feel your vehicle start to slide, don't try to overcorrect the situation. Pump your brakes and use gentle maneuvering to steer the vehicle.
We wish you all a safe and happy holiday season! Plan ahead and be careful out there!
